Eyrarbakki Venues
The Old Freezing Plant
Our village, Eyrarbakki, sports one of the many Fish Freezing Plants that the ceaseless march of time and progress has turned obsolete. The rustic hall, where the catch of the day used to be processed for consumers to enjoy, now serves as a charming and beautifully ambient Music & Storytelling venue. Here we can receive groups of up to 80 guests.
Rauða Húsið Restaurant
We often partner up with our friends at Rauða Húsið, an absolutely phenomenal restaurant. In their Northern Hall, on the top floor, is where we set our stage for the evening. The Hall is romantically lit with candles and lamps during the winter months, and the gorgeous midnight sun illuminates the Hall during the summer.
Rauða Húsið can comfortably entertain groups of up to 50 people. For more information about the restaurant and to read their menu:
Bakkastofa - Our Homebase
We live and work in Bakkastofa, a 102 years old house with a very good aura indeed. Here we welcome small, exclusive groups, no larger than 18 people. Musical performance and generational storytelling are the focus points of each visit, and we take care to leave plenty of room for relaxed conversation.
Our experience is such that guests often find, from the stories, a common thread with their own life and family history, which usually sparks intriguing interactions.
Other places of interest
We can also arrange visits to Eyrarbakki's gems: our beautiful church, with its magnificent acoustics; Húsið Museum, where the legacy of Ásta's great-great-grand-parents is preserved; not to forget the village's two fine restaurants; and of course Eyrarbakki, the village itself, and its surrounding nature.
